Franchise Licensing Advisors Help You Find the Perfect Fit with Home Franchise Concepts

Home Franchise Concepts (HFC) is home to three growing brands in the home improvement/home services industry, Budget Blinds®, The Tailored Closet® and Concrete Craft®. With over 1,275 franchised territories, HFC is one of the largest franchise companies in North America and new franchise owners join the HFC family every month.

It’s true that the business models of our low-cost franchise opportunities are exceptional, the training is comprehensive, and the products beyond compare, but HFC also has a team of franchise licensing advisors dedicated to vetting out the best franchise owner candidates and helping them find the right fit. There is absolutely no advantage to awarding a franchise business to a candidate that is not the right fit, so our franchise licensing advisors are honor bound to help potential franchisees fully understand the franchising landscape.

We’d like you to meet our team of franchise licensing advisors. You’ll see why their efforts have contributed to the success and growth of HFC and its family of brands—each is dedicated to ensuring the decision to purchase a franchise business is in the best interests of all concerned.

Jonathan Thiessen, Vice-President of Franchise Licensing

I have been with HFC for 14 years, after working 11 years in real estate franchising with RE/MAX, which I joined right out of college. I got my first taste of franchising at Miami University with a project to analyze TGI Fridays and was fascinated by the entire franchising process. As VP of Franchise Licensing at HFC, I’m responsible for expanding the footprint of each of the three HFC brands through franchise development. I have an amazing team of seasoned franchise development professionals who work diligently with potential franchise candidates to determine if there is a mutual “fit.”  I believe it’s my role to create and support a transparent process that makes it as easy as possible for our candidates and Advisors to make that determination.

I love that every day I get to see the tangible results of what happens when you put great people in a great franchise system.  I go to conventions and get hugs and handshakes from people who tell me how becoming a franchisee with us has changed their lives for the better in ways they had never imagined.  Knowing that I play a small part in helping so many achieve their dreams is a thrill that I get to experience on a daily basis.

While I grew up in Canada, my last 18 years in California have convinced me that I’ve shoveled my last driveway. With two very active teenagers, most of our free time is spent at a practice, game or performance of some sort, but I manage to squeeze in some golf at times and do a lot of coaching. As a family we love to go to the mountains in any season and would someday love to have a second home on a lake.

Aaron Cady, Senior Franchise Licensing Advisor

After 10 years with HFC, I still love helping people realize their dreams of business ownership. I came to HFC from a background in sales, nine-and-a-half years with Ingram Micro in Irvine, and various other local, outside sales positions, including as a National Account Manager that required lots of travel, which was not good with little kids at home. During a period of unemployment, I met a franchise owner who happened to be Jonathan Thiessen’s wife and she steered me to talk to him about franchise sales. I was hired as a Sales Advisor, living many of the attributes that we see in our franchise prospects: tired of travel, laid off, wanted no more “working for the man.” I fully understand where candidates are coming from with these career woes.

I consider myself a recruiter and matchmaker, helping people create the next chapter in their lives by venturing into business ownership if that’s been their dream. With three brands to choose from, HFC has more to offer than a standalone franchise. The successes of my candidates are what drive me. One franchise owner cried on my shoulder while attending his first national convention, so elated, but wishing he had made the move to franchise business ownership sooner.

I’m a single dad with a 12-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son. We enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and anything on the water or at the beach.

Nancy Beskar

I have spent six years with HFC, helping people select the best HFC franchise business opportunity to meet their personal, professional and financial objectives. I know of what I speak, I am also a Budget Blinds franchisee. My career path involved eight years with a Fortune 100 staffing company and then seeing my boss get laid off after 25 years with the company. I opened my first franchise, a wine store, and served as Area Developer. After three years, I decided to focus solely on franchise development and worked with small to mid-sized national brands before joining HFC in 2011, via Budget Blinds.

I am proud to be part of the HFC team and love the friendships I’ve developed with the many people I’ve helped go into business for themselves through franchising. It’s awe-inspiring to hear their success stories and see how franchise ownership has made a positive impact on their lives.

I live in historic downtown Savannah, GA, and am in the midst of a painstaking renovation of a 167-year-old house. Old homes and renovations are just a couple of my passions, along with my 17-year-old Jack Russell, Sadie. I like to keep busy (or I’ll find mischief), and I am happiest when I have a) travel plans to new places to explore; b) time with good friends who make me laugh; or c) enjoying a lovely wine and great food with stimulating company.

Troy Molen

I’ve been with HFC for about five-and-a-half years. I have been in the franchise industry as a Franchise Licensing Advisor for 13 years. I would define this job as a great opportunity to help people live their dreams. It’s all about finding the right fit for them as well as for HFC. My role is to match the best possible franchise opportunity to the candidate and the needs of their family. I love working with candidates and helping them understand all that it’s going to take to be a successful franchise owner. Whether HFC becomes a good fit for them or they decide to go to a different franchise model, my role is to make sure that they are fully prepared with a good understanding of franchising.

I currently live in the mountains of Utah, am married, and we have six kids ranging from 21 to 12. My family and I love to travel and when the season is right, we love to fish.

Dayn Benson

I’ve been in franchising for almost 20 years, during which time I was a franchise owner for six years, acquired my CFE Certification (Certified Franchise Executive), was President and Director for several different franchise systems, while also involved with franchise sales and training. I usually attended four franchise broker conventions every year and that’s how I met Nancy and Troy. At one event, we were to dress in the uniform of our favorite sports team and Nancy and I bonded as die-hard Packer fans.

When I found myself looking for a new career opportunity, I contacted Nancy, already with HFC, and asked if she knew anyone hiring who would not require me to move. She put me in contact with Jonathan Thiessen and I’ve been with HFC for four years now. I love that I meet new people every day and get to talk about life and business, helping people who think they want to be their own boss figure out if they should be. If they should, I see if one of our business opportunities is a fit.

Married 22 years, my wife and I have an 18-year-old son and a 16-year-old daughter. I’m good at taking tests, so I did well in school, but thought it was a waste of time. I was a ski bum for two years. I try to play golf. I’m active in my church and the art community around Ann Arbor. And, I’m a die-hard Packer fan which ultimately led me to HFC.

Ralph Rooney

I have been with HFC for three years, coming from a background in the EdTech industry. After 19 years of selling to school districts across America, the software company I was working for was sold. I decided I wanted to start something new and had friends of friends in the franchising industry and they always seemed to have great fun at the events I attended. I took on a consulting project with Budget Blinds, which eventually turned into my current Sales Advisor position.

Every day I get to talk to people who want to do something different in their lives that will be more rewarding then what they are doing now. I help people open their eyes to how owning a franchise can really change their lives. I start the informational process and eventually lead qualified candidates to the finish line of owning their own business. I also enjoy ongoing relationships with franchisees I’ve placed in the HFC Brands, especially hearing their success stories.

I enjoy hanging out with family and friends, including having a craft beer while watching the MN Vikings or golfing with all six members of my family.

The Franchise Licensing Support Team

Very often the first contact a prospect has with HFC is with one of our Licensing Support Administrative Assistants. They actually do so much more than assist, they ungird the entire process, including preparing the marketing packets, helping prospects with initial applications, franchise contact preparation and signing, working with any involved franchise brokers, managing territory checks, expense reports and the inevitable data entry. Their knowledge and professionalism are vital, keeping the franchise licensing department organized and humming, freeing up the Advisors to focus on new prospects.

Nadia Panduro has 11 years with HFC and Lindsey Pentoney has eight years, and they’ve enjoyed helping hundreds of new franchisees start the adventure of being an independent franchise owner. Nadia is mom to an awesome 11-year-old daughter and Lindsey is a new mom, saying, “It’s, by far, the best job I’ve had.”
