Operating in a $6.9 billion industry, blind business, Budget Blinds, has established nearly 900 franchise territories in North America and continues to expand. Canadian franchisee, Karen Tsao-Pemberton, recently interviewed with Budget Blinds and shares her secrets to owning a successful window covering business.
Passionate about interior design and home renovation, Karen explains how she landed in the blinds business. “I came to the conclusion that window coverings can be a pain point for interior designers. The problem 10 years ago was that there was not much on the market in terms of full-fledged window covering companies that designed, measured, and installed.” With expected sales of hard and soft window coverings in the U.S. to grow by over 6% a year, there is clearly a demand for such treatments.
Karen elaborates about window covering trends and how they can really benefit clients. “People are starting to realize that air conditioning just can’t keep up during hot days without some help from window and skylight coverings. Eco-friendly and energy-saving treatments are very popular as well. Roller shades have also really taken over, they have come very far in the last 10 years and are popular in condos and homes alike. I have also noticed that draperies seem to be making a comeback, especially in homes with lots of hard furnishings like hardwood, leather, and marble; these homes need something soft to counteract all the hard features.”
Owning a Budget Blinds franchise is a great opportunity to help others and maintain flexibility. Karen comments, “The best part about owning a Budget Blinds is having the opportunity to have a work-life balance.” If you are interested in being part of the continuous success of Budget Blinds, please visit us at http://www.budget-blinds-franchise.com/best-franchise-opportunities/.
